The BYD Cebu Group officially launched BYD Cebu Central, its fourth dealership in the city. Since entering the Cebu market in April 2024, the group has expanded its vehicle lineup from four to ten models, including the new eMAX 7 MPV. Current showrooms are located in Cebu North, Ayala Center Cebu, Il Corso and Cebu Central, each with an in-house café.
Additional branches are being planned in Minglanilla and Toledo, with BYD Cebu South expected to open within six months. The expansion aligns with a broader shift toward electric mobility in Cebu. Meanwhile, ACMobility is developing a regional charging network through its Charge Forward initiative and the Philippine EV Spine program, targeting over 35 charging sites across the Visayas by late 2025.

JBL staged “The JBL Experience” in Cebu City on June 3, spotlighting the brand’s latest lineup of portable and party speakers as it deepens its presence in the Visayas. The new range reflects continued advancements in audio technology, with enhancements focused on portability, durability, sound performance and wireless connectivity.
Several models have been upgraded with longer battery life, improved Bluetooth streaming through LE Audio and AI-powered features that optimize sound output in real time. The speakers also support JBL’s Auracast system, allowing multiple units to sync for seamless, room-filling playback — a feature now standard across new models.
Designed for a variety of settings, from outdoor gatherings to home use, some devices incorporate ambient lighting, karaoke-ready functionality or smart alarm features. The event’s rollout suggests not only an expanded product ecosystem but also the brand’s commitment to engaging with music communities beyond the capital, aligning with broader trends in lifestyle tech that blend entertainment with mobility and personalization.

National University (NU), a private institution founded in 1900, has opened its 13th campus — and its first in Central Visayas — inside a major commercial complex in Cebu City.
Located at SM City Cebu, NU Cebu is the first mall-based school in the region and the 10th mall-based campus among NU’s 13 locations nationwide. The newly opened campus spans more than 25,000 square meters across six levels and is designed to accommodate up to 14,000 students.
NU Cebu offers a senior high school program and undergraduate degrees in accountancy, architecture, computer science, tourism management, psychology and medical technology. According to the university, the courses are aligned with labor market trends. The campus is fully staffed by locally hired administrators, faculty members and support personnel. NU, which is part of the SM Group, follows some of the operational and service models drawn from the group’s commercial operations, particularly in campus management and customer experience.
The university is expected to announce rental rates for its Fiba-regulated basketball facility, which will be made available to the public.
