The mayor hoped he can receive Comelec's response before the Holy Week.

While waiting for Comelec's green light, Garcia said the finance offices and the Human Resource and Development Office have already prepared in advance the release of the bonus.

On March 26, 2025, the Cebu City Council approved a P35,000 Charter Day bonus for each regular and casual employee, increasing it from the initially proposed P25,000.

The P35,000 Charter Day bonus applies to the city's 1,300 regular employees and P2,900 casual workers. The City's 3,000 job order personnel will receive P5,000 each.

The Charter Day bonus is part of the P635 Supplemental Budget No. 1, Garcia asked from the City Council, which also includes budget for road asphalting (P140 million), the construction of the eighth to 10th floors of the Cebu City Medical Center (P210 million), City Hall maintenance and operating expenses (P35 million) and livelihood programs (P100 million). /JJL
