Ride-hailing driver busted with 1 kilo shabu

A RIDE-HAILING driver landed in jail after being caught in a buy-bust conducted by members of the City Intelligence Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office at 11:08 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Sitio Sun-ok, Purok Tambis, Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.

The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Saligo, 33, a resident of Zone Sibuyas, Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City, and a motorcycle ride-hailing driver.

Operatives seized from him a bulk package believed to contain shabu, weighing approximately one kilogram and valued at P6.8 million.

Police had placed the suspect under surveillance for a week after his name surfaced during previous drug-related arrests.

Jeffrey was allegedly able to sell 300 to 500 grams of shabu weekly, sourced from his boss who is currently detained in a jail facility. His area of distribution reportedly covered the cities of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, and Cebu.

Charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 are being prepared against the suspect. (AYB)
