THE Lapu-Lapu City Government will temporarily implement full two-lane road closures from the stretch of Barangay Punta Engaño to the Municipality of Cordova for the annual Ironman 70.3 triathlon on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Backed with Ordinance 17-002-2025, the full road closure will take effect from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, from Punta Engaño Road’s Mactan junction to Mangal, and from Mactan junction to Marigondon intersection up to the boundary of Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova.

For the Ironkids, which will be held on Saturday, August 9, the closure will be from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. A portion of the Punta Engaño Barangay Road, starting from outside Dusit Thani Hotel to Arterra Hotel, will be closed to traffic.

Lapu-Lapu City Police Office spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Christian Torres said in an interview with the media that almost 400 personnel will be deployed to monitor the race route.

Torres announced that beginning Thursday, August 7, police officers will be deployed, with no personnel allowed to take leave starting Thursday until the major events.

The directive was issued in response to the arrival of participants at the billeting area and in preparation for the Reyna Bulakna 2025 Run, scheduled for Friday, August 8.

The Ironman 70.3 triathlon is expected to cater at least 2,000 delegates. (DPC)
