
ROBERT Sarvida snatched the Bowler of the Week honors in the Sugbuanon Bowlers United (SUGBU) shootout tournament on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the SM Seaside City Cebu Bowling Center.
Competing in Division B, Sarvida clinched the title after a nail-biting finish against 86-year-old veteran Orly Enoveso and fellow contender Arthur Tapaya.
After 10 intense frames, Sarvida and Enoveso were locked in a tie at 228, but Sarvida took the win due to a lower handicap score.
During the qualifying match, Arthur Tapaya dominated Division A with an impressive 825 pinfalls, closely followed by GJ Buyco with 821 and Nestor Ranido with 814.
In Division B, Robert Sarvida reigned supreme, leading the pack with 797 pinfalls. He edged out Ted Convocar and Mel Fines, who recorded 775 and 774 pinfalls, respectively.
In Division C, Orlando Enoveso secured the top spot with 691 pinfalls, ahead of Feben Landazabal and Romy Mauro, who scored 642 and 620 pinfalls, respectively.
The tournament also marked the debut of a new lane oiling pattern — 45 feet at 26 ml — implemented in preparation for the upcoming Philippine National Open at Sta. Lucia Mall in Cainta, Metro Manila, and the Negros Open next month. / Glenn C. Tan
