SHS-AdC, DBTC booters all set for ‘El Clasico’ alumni showdown

FOOTBALL rivals Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) and Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) are all set to face off in their much-anticipated annual alumni match in Thirsty presents “El Clasico” on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

“We are very excited for this historic event between two storied football schools in Cebu,” said event organizer John Pages.

DBTC and SHS-AdC have been two of the powerhouse football schools in Cebu for years now. Both schools have been competing in classic Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) matches and produced some of the country’s best football players.

DBTC’s squad is loaded with talent and features a mixed of current pro players, college standouts, young talent and wily veterans. Some of the standouts in the team are Cebu FC players Kamil Amirul, JK Ceniza and Erich Orale; Maharlika Taguig FC’s Kenry Balobo; Loyola FC’s John Clyde Vitualla; and former Cebu FC player Glen Thomas Ramos.

Meanwhile, SHS-AdC is mostly composed of young players and some talented veterans. Leading the lineup are Cebu FC and Philippine National Team member Leo Maquiling, Manila Digger FC’s Kintaro Miyagi, Cebu FC’s Jack Zambrano, and former De La Salle University player John Veloso.

The alumni match between DBTC and SHS-AdC will be the marquee game of the event, which also features two other matches pitting teams from both schools.

The event will kick off with an elementary match between SHS-AdC and DBTC at 2 p.m.  It will be followed by a high school game. 

The main feature will start at 5:30 p.m.

“The alumni players are very excited. They are very proud to once again play for their alma mater, especially those who graduated years ago. The community is also very excited for this match,” said Chad Songalia, an alumnus of both schools and the brains of the historic alumni match.

SHS-AdC and DBTC share identical school colors of blue and white. Both sides have agreed that DBTC and their supporters will be wearing white, while SHS-AdC will don the color blue.

Aside from Thirsty Juices & Shakes, “El Clasico” is made possible by Y101, Zerenity Hotel & Suites, Fast Logistics, Orange Karenderia, Samson Norombaba Law Offices, Southwind Tours & Travel, Fresh Choice Bakeshop, Rad Chameleon Apparel, Island Paints, ERCO, Arki Source, and Sunsport.

The match is also sanctioned by the Cebu Regional Football Association.

Tickets for the match will be sold at the CCSC for P150.

All proceeds of the ticket sales will be for the benefit of the varsity of programs of SHS-AdC and DBTC. / EKA
