THE San Miguel Beermen are back on the pinnacle of the All-Filipino Cup as the TNT Tropang 5G got rejected on their bid for the rare Grand Slam in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) season-ending Philippine Cup on Friday night, July 26, 2025 at the Philsports Arena.
The Beermen crushed Tropang 5G, 107-96, in Game 6 of the PBA Finals to cruise its way to the Philippine Cup title, which they last held in 2022.
The sweet moment for SMB shut down TNT’s bid for a maiden grand slam for the second time since 2011.
June Mar Fajardo powered San Miguel to a commanding 4-2 series triumph, delivering a “Kraken-sized” performance with 24 points on an almost perfect 11-of-12 shooting clip, along with 12 rebounds and three assists.
CJ Perez matched Fajardo’s output with 24 points of his own, while Jericho Cruz and Don Trollano provided instant offense from the bench, scoring 13 and 12, respectively.
Mo Tautuaa added 10 markers, as veterans Chris Ross (nine) and Marcio Lassiter (seven) came through with clutch plays reminiscent of their championship pedigree.
Cruz capped his impressive Finals run by bagging the Finals MVP award after averaging 13.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists throughout the series.
San Miguel now adds another trophy to its collections, as the franchise now has an overall 30 championships.
The Tropang 5G won Governors’ Cup crown then grabbed the Commissioner’s Cup, but failed to complete the Grand Slam puzzle in the All-Filipino Cup.
