Adolfo faces Bayogos for interim PBF belt

MICHAEL Adolfo attempts to bounce back from his first career defeat as he takes on undefeated prospect Bryl Bayogos for the interim Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight belt on Aug. 25, 2023 in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

The 23-year-old Adolfo suffered his first career setback after losing to tough veteran Jason Canoy by unanimous decision on April 1 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

Adolfo had a blazing start to his pro career by winning four straight fights that included a win over Reycar Auxilio. However, he met his match against Canoy, a very experienced fighter that has fought some elite names like Drian Francisco, Oleydong Sithsamerchai and Luis Nery.

Adolfo, who fights out of the Prime Fight Gym in Talisay City, will be facing another tough assignment in Balogos, who’s one of the top prospects at the Sanman Gym in Gen. Santos City.

The 21-year-old Bayogos fought twice this year and defeated up-and-comers Albert Parilla and Clarence Breboneria both by knockout.

Adolfo is 4-1 with two knockouts, while Bayogos is 5-0-1 with two knockouts.

In the undercard, unbeaten hard-hitter Jimler Cubay (4-0, 4 KOs) will lock horns with Marjon Piencenaves (6-6-1, 4 KOs), while Kevin Villanueva will make his pro debut against Elizer Ambon (1-11, 1 KO). (EKA)
