Adolfo faces Bayogos for the interim PBF belt

MICHAEL Adolfo guns for the interim Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight against undefeated prospect Bryl Bayogos on Aug. 25, 2023 in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

Adolfo tipped the scales way below the super bantamweight limit at 119 pounds, Bayogos weighed-in at 122 pounds.

The 23-year-old Adolfo is eager to bounce back after suffering his first career defeat in his last fight. He lost to journeyman Jason Canoy by unanimous decision on April 1 in Lapu-Lapu City.

Adolfo, who trains at the Prime Fight Gym in Talisay City, had a promising start to his pro career after winning four fights in a row that included a victory over Reycar Auxilio. Adolfo’s career suffered a setback after his loss to Canoy, a tough and experienced slugger that has fought some elite fighters like Drian Francisco, Oleydong Sithsamerchai and Luis Nery.

Balogos, in the meantime, is one of the most promising up-and-comers at the Sanman Gym in General Santos City.

Bayogos fought two times this year and defeated fellow prospects Albert Parilla and Clarence Breboneria both by knockout.

Adolfo is 4-1 with two knockouts, while Bayogos is 5-0-1 with two knockouts.

In the undercard, undefeated knockout artist Jimler Cubay (4-0, 4 KOs) slugs it out with Marjon Piencenaves (6-6-1, 4 KOs), while Kevin Villanueva turns pro against Elizer Ambon (1-11, 1 KO). / EKA
