BATCH 2021 handily defeated Batch 2020, 84-71, in Division C of the 26th season of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2023, at the Magis Eagles Arena in Mandaue City.
Batch 2021 set the tone early as they led by nine after the first period and pushed the pedal to the metal, erecting a 66-47 lead heading to the last canto.
Rey Marcus Fuentes IV dominated his defenders and finished with 30 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks. Brandon Largo helped out with 15 points and eight boards, while Walter Yu and Marin Dumon chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Mitch Almodal had 38 points in Batch 2020’s losing cause.
In the other Division C game of the evening, Batch 2022 racked up another win, this time routing Batch 2015, 88-76. Uriel Avila, who is coming off an unreal 55-point explosion in their last outing, had another monster performance, as he tallied 37 points and grabbed an eye-popping 23 boards—impressive for a player who stands just 5-foot-10.
Avila also had five assists, two steals, and two blocked shots.
Rey Tristan Fuentes added 19, while Robert Mayam contributed 18 markers.
