THE Bigatin Trading-2008 routed the Crossfit-Subtero-2006, 69-46, in Division B of the 26th Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association basketball tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at the Magis Eagles Arena in Mandaue City.
With PBA 3x3 player Mikey Cabahug in uniform, Batch 2008’s confidence skyrocketed and it showed in their play, as they zoomed in front, 35-18, at halftime and was never ever threatened in the last two periods of action.
Cabahug, the son of former PBA great Elmer Cabahug, had 20 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Ivan Espina led the team in scoring with 21 points.
In other Division B matches, the reigning champions Cebu Landmasters-2003 clobbered Gateway Motors-2007, 81-55. Batch 2003 had their way in the third, outscoring their foes, 28-15, to build leads that went as high as 27, 65-38.
Moncrief Rogado shone for Batch 2003 as he tallied 22 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.
The Flashket Grocery Delivery App-2009 won over the Insular Square-2005, 83-74. Joseph Ian Roma sparked the team to victory with an all-around stat line of 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while team captain Niel Benedicto finished with 22 points and 16 rebounds.
And lastly, the Efficascent Boost-BRC-2010 crushed the Puresteel Manufacturing Corp.-2011, 88-66. Jasper Diaz did it all as he registered 20 points, eight rebounds, five dimes, two steals and two blocks.
Gabe Branzuela and Joseph Zozobrado added 19 markers each. (JNP)
