THE Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) has divided its commissioners into two groups that will oversee the city’s different sports.
PBA legend and City Councilor Dondon Hontiveros will head one group, while councilor Jessica Resch will lead the other.
“We divided the Commissioners into two groups; one headed by Councilor Dondon Hontiveros and the other by Councilor Jessica Resch. The two councilors will assist in the implementation of the projects and programs. Selection was based on discussion among the commissioners,” said CCSC head John Pages.
Under Hontiveros’ group are Lorenzo “Chao” Sy, Gayle Dico, Rolly Diorico and Francis Ramirez.
Hontiveros will be in charge of archery, arnis, basketball, e-sports, jiu-jitsu, obstacle course racing, skateboarding and skating. Sy will oversee billiards and boxing; Dico will be for athletics, dancesport and gymnastics; Dorico for dragonboat; while Ramirez will be responsible for baseball, softball, football, futsal, pencak silat, sepak takraw and wushu.
Meanwhile, Resch’s group has Jessica Honoridez and Dr. Rhoel Dejano.
Resch is assigned to cycling, duathlon, aquathlon, flag football, rugby, running, triathlon, ultimate frisbee and volleyball. Hordinez will be leading badminton, bowling, chess, scrabble, judo, karatedo, taekwondo, table tennis and weightlifting; while Dejano is in charge of fitness and well-being, lawn tennis, parasports, physique/bodybuilding, sports nutrition and medicine, swimming and wrestling.
The roles of the commissioners are: to help uplift the assigned sports by coming up with various programs and projects; to meet and collaborate with different associations, teams, athletes and coaches related to the sport; and to be the point-person for requests from outside groups and athletes particular to that sport.
Pages and Councilor Noel Wenceslao wil help oversee the projects and programs of both groups.
