The Danao City-MJAS Zenith suffered another loss, this time at the hands of the Family’s Brand Sardines-Zamboanga, 64-76, in the Filbasket Summer Championship on Monday night at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
After leading by five at halftime, 38-33, Danao City inexplicably crumbled in the third period and got outhustled and outscored, 28-12, to fall behind 50-61 heading to the final canto. Danao City could not come any closer than nine after that burst by Zamboanga.
Veteran forward Chito Jaime led Zamboanga City with 25 points and six rebounds, while Jhapz Bautista added 14 markers. Family’s Brand Sardines-Zamboanga improved to 2-2.
Meanwhile, Danao City suffered its second loss in a row and dropped to 1-3. Patrick Cabahug led the way for the losing side with 22 points while Kevin Villafranca added 12 markers. Brylle Meca also chipped in 10. (JNP)
