DON Bosco Liloan showed that they were a cut above the rest after winning both the Girls Under-13 and Under-15 titles of the second leg of the Rhoro Futsal Invitational Games on June 17, 2023 at the Pooc Multipurpose Hall in Talisay City.
Don Bosco Liloan outclassed Barili FC, 5-1, to win the Girls Under-13 title. Later in the afternoon, Don Bosco Liloan also claimed the Under-15 title with a 4-1 victory over Zapatera.
The Rhoro Futsal Invitational Games is a series of futsal tournaments that features the Girls Under-13 and Girls Under-15 divisions.
“The Girls Under-13 and Under-15 divisions rarely get the attention in football tournaments. Either there’s none or there are only a few entries. The kids’ talent in these divisions will be put to waste. The quality of the players will improve after one year of these series of tournaments,” event organizer Rhosner Bollozos told SunStar Cebu.
Bollozos has huge plans for the series and hopes to host major tournaments with teams from the Visayas and Mindanao.
“After the pandemic, first was in Carcar. Then the second was in Talisay. Then the third will be in Liloan,” Bollozos said. “Then we’ll have Visayas and Mindanao with Bohol, Negros and Cagayan de Oro. Our target is to get the franchise of Liga Skwela (Inter public school futsal tournament). We’ll do whatever we can. Two futsal tournaments per month is okay and then two major tournaments a year. We can also go to Bohol to sharpen the skills of the players. We’ll use the same concept. There are already coaches willing to host us there.”
The next leg of the Rhoro Futsal Invitational Games will be in Liloan on June 28.
Some of the clubs and teams that participated in the series are Talisay, Don Bosco Liloan, Zapatera, Barili FC, Real Carcaranon Club de Futbol and FC Argao. (EKA)
