ZALDY Dizon made a jumper with just 11 seconds left to push the ARQ Builders-Lapu-Lapu City Chiefs past the KSB Iligan Crusaders, 73-72, on Sunday in the 2022 PSL U21 Aspirants Division Invitational Cup at the Manuel Roxas Sports Complex.

Down one after Iligan’s Geric Canete scored a layup, Dizon—the former Don Bosco standout—got the ball, asked for a pick, and then, drove to the keyhole area before rising up and canning a jumper with just 11 ticks remaining to give Lapu-Lapu the lead.

Iligan had a shot at recapturing the lead but Earl Laniton turned the ball over with four seconds remaining on the clock to hand Lapu-Lapu the close victory.

Dizon led the Chiefs with 17 points, four rebounds, and three steals while Jeric Bancale had a complete ballgame with 13 markers, six assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Former University of the Visayas high school stud Samuel Melicor added nine points, 12 rebounds, five steals, and two assists.

Canete had a game-high 32 points for the Crusaders. (JNP)
