Domingo, Biendima in Talisay match
Esneth Domingo takes on a tough assignment in a 10-rounder with Roland Jay Biendima on July 18, 2021 at the Tabunok Sports Complex in Talisay City.
“I’ll do my best to win,” the 22-year-old Domingo told SunStar Cebu. “This will be a good fight because we are both tough fighters. This is a fight that I want because I want to test myself and see what level I am right now.”
Domingo is on a three-fight winning streak since suffering his first career defeat in the hands of experienced Alphoe Dagayloan in 2019.
He beat Belmar Plaza via a first round knockout, Vietnamese Minh Phat Sam by majority decision and Gerald Alvarez by a second round knockout.
The 25-year-old Biendima, on the other hand, is on a three-fight losing skid.
He lost to unbeaten Kento Hatanaka by unanimous decision in a World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth flyweight bout, Christian Araneta via a first round knockout and Jade Bornea via unanimous decision.
He has also fought the likes of one-time world title challenger Wulan Tuolehazi, undefeated Jayson Mama and former world title contender Samuel Salva.
Domingo is 14-1 with eight knockouts, while Biendima is 15-8-1 with eight knockouts.
Brothers Jeo Santisima (20-3, 17 KOs) and Alex Santisima are also fighting in the undercard.
Jeo, a former world title challenger, trades leathers with tough Virgil Puton (18-15-2, 9 KOs), while his younger sibling, Alex, makes his pro debut against fellow newcomer JR Arnates.
The main event features an Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) minimumweight title fight between world-rated Melvin Jerusalem (16-2, 10 KOs) and Toto Landero (11-5-2, 2 KOs) in a rematch.
Unbeaten KJ Cataraja (12-0, 10 KOs) faces off with veteran Cris Alfante (17-8-1, 9 KOs) in the other featured bout. (EKA)
