Dynacast-2001 topples Vivant Corenergy-1994 in SHAABAA

Dynacast-2001 notched their second win in a row with an 83-57 thumping of the Vivant Corenergy-1994 in Division A of the 25th season of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) basketball tournament last Sunday at the Magis Eagles Arena inside the Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.

2001 was in control from the get-go, as they led by 10, 21-11, after the first canto and then, by 17, 44-27, at halftime. The lead eventually reached a high of 30, 60-30, as 2001 imposed their will on their opponents.

Mark Hing had 15 points, Erwin Ngo added 14, while Jason Arquisola contributed 13 markers, eight boards, three steals, and two assists. John Paul Cabrera added 12 points to help 2001 go up to 2-0.

In other Division A matches, the Xchange Forex-2000 routed the Mandaue Eco Glass Inc.-1992, 71-58, to claim their second win of the competition. 2001 pulled away from 1992 in the second period with a 21-9 salvo that gave them a 37-21 halftime lead. From there, it was all 2001 en route to the easy win.

Serg Al Go Bui had 29 points, eight rebounds, and six steals for 2000, while Dave Ting and Christian Tiongko chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, the AutoLAB-1999 got the best of the GEF Daikin-1998, 62-58. Alan Ong had 15 points, eight boards, and five assists, while Jeremy Huang almost had a double-double with 11 points and boards.

And lastly, the Speed Demon-1996 obliterated the Gaisano Capital, San Remigio Beach Club, KJO prints, Badbeat Sportswear-2002 out of the gym with an 86-64 win. Junie Alejandro carried the Speed Demons to the win with a flawless stat line of 34 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.

Paulsen Uy almost had a triple-double with 14 points, nine assists, and eight boards, along with two steals. Big man Gio Borromeo also added 14 markers, seven boards, and four assists.
