FPJ Panday Bayanihan backs UP Cebu varsity

THE University of the Philippines Cebu’s varsity program gets a huge boost after getting the support of FPJ Panday Bayanihan.

Led by its president Brian Poe Llamanzares, a former member of the Ateneo fencing team, the FPJ Panday Bayanihan aims to empower student-athletes by instilling core values such as teamwork, resilience, and hard work, enabling them to excel academically and in sports.

“Being an athlete teaches you discipline, good health, and focus. We, at FPJ Panday Bayanihan, are proud to support UP Cebu’s varsity program. We believe that sports can be a good way to develop the youth of our nation. It keeps kids in school and gives them new opportunities,” said Llamanzares.

This partnership between FPJ Panday Bayanihan and UP Cebu focuses on nurturing talent, fostering growth, and empowering young Filipinos to unlock their full potential. The FPJ Panday Bayanihan is inspired by the famous “Ang Panday” character created by Fernando Poe Jr. It epitomizes heroism and a commitment to unity, support, and community.

“We’re excited and thankful to partner with FPJ Panday Bayanihan. It’s a collaboration rooted in UP Cebu’s deep commitment to holistic education that nurtures not only academic prowess but also physical resilience and community spirit among our students. Thank you to everyone for making this a reality for UP Cebu,” said UP Cebu Chancellor Leo Malagar.

UP Cebu is making its debut in Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation (Cesafi) basketball tournament.

Led by head coach Rommel Rasmo, the Fighting Maroons has shown a glimpse of what they can do in the upcoming Cesafi tournament after finishing first runner-up in the Regional Games of the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association in Dumaguete City.
