Go gets green signal to join Ferrari Driver Academy Trial

CEBUANO karting star William John Riley Go continues to make his hometown proud after being selected as the lone Filipino in the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) Trial Asia Pacific and Oceania regional selection program, which penciled on Sept. 23 to 27, 2023 at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

“It is truly an honor and privilege to be selected for the Ferrari Driver Academy Trial. However, at the same time, I’m putting a bit of pressure on myself since I know this will determine the next journey in my career. Nonetheless, I’m reminding myself to put my best foot forward and let God do the rest,” said the 15-year-old speedster.

It’s surely a special achievement for Go as he made it to the cut from more than 100 applications worldwide, it was narrowed down to 25 of the best young racers from China, New Zealand, South Korea, India and the lone entry from the Philippines.

“This is truly a dream of mine so I’m counting the days till the Driver Academy Program,” he said.

Go is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for the prestigious FDA program as he is set to face the very best in the world.

“I know it’s going to be tough and challenging since I’ll be competing against very talented drivers worldwide. I hope through this, I will be able to form relationships with those I come across, increase my social media presence, find possible sponsors for the next steps of my career, and most importantly, learn and gain experience,” he said.

Dreams do come true for this dedicated Cebuano racer.

“I was pleasantly surprised to be contacted by AAP Motorsports to be the representative of the Philippines. I always thought being in the Ferrari Driver Academy Program was out of reach so being selected for this shootout/trial is already a dream come true, no matter what the outcome will be,” shared Go.

Prior to this selection, Go has been winning international and national karting races and has received numerous awards in the sport of karting. / RSC
