Mendoza: Seeing a 4-0 Cleveland sweep

I DON’T see any reason why Cleveland could not close it on Tuesday.

Up by 3-0 over Toronto, the Cavs have all the momentum to wrap up a 4-0 victory in the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals.

Not only are the Raptors demoralized; a 0-3 deficit is simply too formidable for any team—Toronto included—to overhaul.

The record resonates in all corners of the globe: No team in NBA history has ever climbed out of a 0-3 hole to win 4-3.

Only in the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) did that phenomenon happen, when San Miguel Beer rallied from 0-3 to defeat Alaska 4-3 for the 2016 All-Filipino crown.

Besides, the Game 4 battle gives Cleveland another precious home court advantage as it is set at Quicken Loans Arena anew.

The Cavs dread another trip to Toronto if Game 5 ensues. Tiresome. Yucky, as in a broccoli lunch served to a non-veggie.

And did Cleveland not also sweep Toronto in 2017 after prevailing 4-2 in 2016?

In that 4-2 series victory, the Cavs did it by winning the last two games, giving them now a crispy chance to extend their playoff winning streak against the Raptors to 10.

Only the King aka LeBron James could issue an edict for a Cleveland Game 4 win not happening.

Very unlikely, as in Danny Isla suddenly finding out there are now more people than sheep in New Zealand.

Kudos also to BCC’S GM Anthony de Leon for another job well done. Surely, his lieutenants led by Andrew Pinero, Roanne Galicia, Glai del Rosario and, of course, Lanie Licudine made the tournament another smashing success. Cheers, guys!
