MODERN Windows escaped with an 85-80 victory in overtime over the Cebu Home Builders in the Cebu Architects Basketball Club Corporate Cup on July 23, 2023 at the Benedicto Gym in Cebu City.
Down eight, 71-63, in the fourth period, Modern Windows authored a daring comeback to get the win and move to second place in the standings with a 2-1 record. Lemuel Aspacio led the winning side with 25 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Mark Bajenting had 18 points.
In other games, the defending champions AEG won their third straight game with an easy 83-68 win over Kirby Building System. Athletic forward Dexsel Caadan exploded for 34 points on 15-of-19 shooting to pace AEG to an immaculate 3-0 record. Bong Gabison pitched in 12 points, six boards and four assists.
Boysen Paints also rose to 2-1 after defeating Diamond Built, 56-53. Michael Judilla had 15 points to lead Boysen, which also got 11 points from big man Miggy Aparri.
Landlite secured their first win of the tournament after Buildrite, 74-57. Miguel Cenabre had 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and a steal in an impressive show of his all-around skills. (JNP)
