THE new generation of Noy Pacing Flores Boxing Academy pugs, Sherwin Dacullo and Kevin Sumalinog, will be featured in “Bakbakan sa Guindulman - Bohol vs. Cebu” on Sept. 6, 2023 Guindulman Gymnasium.

Dacullo faces off with Zandy Padiran, while Sumalinog slugs it out with Ramil Yacapin in a couple of four rounders.

“They both have potential,” NPF Boxing Academy head coach Brix Flores told SunStar Cebu.

“I have nobody left from my old boxers. These two are the new generation.”

Dacullo just turned pro this year and logged two impressive victories—a unanimous decision win over John Dominic Ledres and a first round knockout over John Zavier Roferos.

Padiran, in the meantime, is looking to break a four-fight losing streak. He’s coming off a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Ramcie Mondala.

Dacullo is 2-0 with a knockout, while Padiran is 3-5-1 with a knockout.

On the other hand, Sumalinog also turned pro this year. He won all three of his fights by unanimous decision against Ledres, Jariel Quisto and John Mark Henchanova.

Yacapin dropped his last four contests and is coming off a second round technical knockout of Ronel Musa.

Sumalinog is 3-0, while Yacapin is 2-7 with two knockouts.

Meanwhile, Cebuano veteran Ryan Maano takes on Nelson Tinampay in a rematch.

Maano wants to settle his score with Tinampay after losing to him by a close split decision in their first meeting on May 7 in Bohol. Maano is coming off a first round stoppage over MMA fighter-turned-boxer Niño Rio Saoy on June 24 in Consolacion.

Tinampay’s last fight was his win against Maano.

Maano is 6-16-2 with two knockouts, while Tinampay is 15-8-1 with six knockouts.

Also in the same card, Rey Simbajon (2-0, 1 KO) trades leathers with Mark Glen Antaran (4-9-3, 3 KOs), while Melchor Abcede (3-10-3) squares off with Bryan Samson (5-7, 3 KOs).

The event also showcases an amateur event that pits Cebu and Bohol fighters. The show has 12 amateur fights. / EKA
