PARAGSA and Penthel advanced to the finals of the Duterte Basketball League after they claimed victories over their respective opponents in the semifinals at the Capitol Parish Gym on Sunday, October 13, 2019.
Paragsa defeated the powerhouse GAC Motors, 79-70, while Penthel outclassed NJEB Construction, 79-74, to set up a best-of-three finals showdown, which will begin on Sunday, October 20, 2019.
Former Cebu Institute of Technology-University guard Nino Batiquin torched GAC Motors’ defense as he erupted for 24 points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal. He got ample support from big man Junrey Hoybia who had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds to go with his three blocks.
The loss wasted the stellar efforts of the GAC Motors’ Joshua dela Cerna and Allan Dimco who had 27 and 18 points, respectively.
In the other game, Penthel got a solid, well-rounded stat-line from Ruben Ludovice, who tallied 19 points, eight rebounds, two steals and four blocks in the win. Jamjam Belocura also contributed 15 points in Penthel’s charge to the finals.
Vincent Minguito spearheaded NJEB’s attack with 28 points but it was not
