TATAY Rudy’s booked a ticket to the championship round of the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Alumni Basketball League after they defeated the Duggies on June 10, 2023 at the House of Curry basketball court in Mandaue City.
Tatay Rudy’s got off to a hot start in the first half, erecting a 19-point lead, before the Duggies tried to mount a spirited comeback. However, the cagers of Tatay Rudy’s were up to the challenge and responded with timely shots to weather the storm and nab the win.
Dwight Remedio led the way for Tatay Rudy’s with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. Tatay Rudy’s now tote an 8-1 win-loss record with one more game left to play in the double round-robin elimination round.
The top two teams after the elims will advance to the finals.
In other games, the Dosmil kept their hopes for a finals berth alive with a hard-fought 57-50 win over the Maro-ons. Joshua Rosell played solid basketball and had nine points and four boards.
Lastly, the Legends mounted a furious second-half comeback, razing a 20-point deficit to beat Parking Lot Basketball 71-67. Junie Alejandro paced the Legends with 25 points, nine assists and six rebounds. (JNP)
