THE ‘04 The Win-2004 nipped the Crossfit-Subtero-2006, 70-67, in Division B of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (Shaabaa) Season 26 on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at the Magis Eagles Arena in Mandaue City.
Batch 2004 trailed by as much as 14, 31-17, but rallied to pull in front, 40-39, at the end of the third. They then took care of business in the fourth to nab the victory. Do-it-all forward Ervin Lopena registered a triple-double of 17 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
Franco Te also had a defensive masterpiece, swatting away seven shots, and tallying three steals to go with his 17 points and 15 rebounds.
In other Division B games, the reigning champions Cebu Landmasters-2003 defeated the Efficascent Boost-BRC-2010, 75-63. Batch 2003 imposed their will early on and never let up, building a massive 45-14 lead before coasting to the win.
Justin Huang had 20 points, 16 rebounds and six assists, while Moncrief Rogado added 18 points, eight boards and six dimes.
The Insular Square-2005 also handed the Bigatin Trading-2008 a 55-45 loss, as Elddie Cabahug shot in 25 points. Antonio Datan also had a field day inside the shaded lane with 12 points and 18 rebounds.
In Division C, the defending champions Heritage Supreme Land Developer-2012 edged Batch 2015, 80-76. Rev-Rev Diputado led the way with 33 points, while big man Julius Cadavis added 12 points and 15 rebounds.
The Nest Workspaces-2013 also flaunted their complete might in demolishing Batch 2022, 103-67. Sporting a complete lineup that had current MPBL player Dawn Ochea, Batch 2013 simply had too much firepower for their foes to overcome.
