Team Cebu grabs 6 gold, 2 silver, 9 bronze medals in Boxing VisMin Cup 2022

CEBU Team dominated the Palarong Pambansa Boxing Visayas Mindanao Cup that was held on June 15, 2022, as it won six gold, two silver, and 10 bronze titles.

Coach Edito "Ala" Villamor showed support for his three athletes who competed in the finals.

Only Vicente Unidos, a finely tuned athlete in Villamor Boxing Gym, grabbed a gold medal for Youth Boys Light Weight through a unanimous decision, 5-0.

Hoybia Kirby and AJ "Ala" Villamor received silver.

Hoybia was defeated by Jerome Cometa in the School Boys Light Flyweight Division by a split decision.

AJ, on the other hand, failed to beat Sherwin Villanueva in School Boys Flyweight via unanimous decision.

Jay Bryan Baricuatro of Team Cebu province contributed gold in the Youth Boys Light Flyweight Division by a 30-second knockout in the final round.

Mark Ashley Fajardo gave an intense fight to Geovannie Rosalina by a third round stoppage.

Jemuel Aranas outgunned Noven King Espina in the Youth Boys BantamWeight by a unanimous decision.

John Kevien of Team Cebu City demolished Kenshin Jake Arellano of CDO in the Youth Boys Fly Weight, by a unanimous decision.

Fighting under different teams from Cebu, Niño Mark Viterbo, Justin Balbarino, Sean O'Neil Abello, Janze Ezreel Quilaton, Rolando Escorel, Joebert Catulogan, John Paul Sarigumba, Arielle Garth Llamas, and Rhenz Rodolfh Parong received their silver medals after winning their respective quarterfinal matches.

In other results, John Steven Demaisip from Negros Occidental earned gold in the School Boys Bantamweight, while Rodolfo Labang Jr. and Devon Tejano received silver medals via unanimous decision.

Bronze medalists were Erwin Paquibo, Zyro Parangan, Jony Mar Loreno, Charly Marzan Jr., Dryxz Russel Sardalla, Churl Curate, Abraham Burlat, Mark Christian Parreno, John Paul Napoles, Crisaldy Beltran, and Jeus Caesar Penaflorida. (Ryan Megabon, CNU intern)
