Yap loses by decision in US debut IN VEGAS

JOURNEYMAN Marjohn Yap failed to impress in his US debut after losing via unanimous decision to Angelo Leo in a 10-rounder in Las Vegas.

Leo totally outboxed Yap and was very aggressive and always came with his body shots and mixed it up with some punches to the head.

The 30-year-old Yap fought gallantly, but Leo was quick and precise with his attacks.

Yap, ranked No. 9 in the World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight class, lost two of his last three contests.

Before that, he was on an impressive 10-fight winning streak in Japan.

Leo continues to move up after convincing back-to-back wins over Yap and Neil John Tabanao.

Yap dropped to 30-14 with 15 knockouts, while the 25-year-old Leo stayed undefeated with 18-0 with eight knockouts. (EKA)
