A STRAY dog crossing the road caused a two-vehicle collision on the National Highway in Sitio Labangon, Barangay Tulic, Argao, Cebu around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday February 9, 2025.
The accident resulted in injuries to two individuals.
The vehicles involved were a Nissan Terra driven by 21-year-old Justin Ice Enopia Esma of Freedom Street, Lahug, Cebu City, and a Nissan Urban driven by 49-year-old Roel Ycong, married, of San Jose Purok V, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.
According to a preliminary investigation by Police Staff Sergeant Robinson Cornito, traffic police investigator of Argao, the Nissan Urban van was traveling from north to south when a stray dog suddenly ran across the road.
Ycong swerved to avoid the dog, causing him to veer into the lane of the oncoming Nissan Terra driven by Esma.
The resulting collision heavily damaged the left side of the Nissan Terra, even dislodging a tire.
The front of the Nissan Urban van was also damaged.
Cornito described the injuries sustained by those involved as not severe.
A Facebook post by the Argao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported that a 60-year-old man and a seven-year-old boy from Pangpangga were injured. It is unclear which vehicle they were in.
They were given assistance and taken to the Bogo Argao ICKMH District Hospital. (DVG)
