THE Cebu Provincial Government has clarified that Sugbo News, the Capitol’s media arm under former governor Gwendolyn Garcia, will not be discontinued under the administration of Governor Pamela Baricuatro.

However, as of 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the official Facebook page of Sugbo News could no longer be found online, raising questions about who currently manages the platform.

Cebu Provincial Information Office (PIO) Chief Ruben Licera said in a statement on Facebook that a formal turnover of the page has not yet taken place.

The current PIO said they already reached out requesting a handover, but they are still awaiting confirmation.

“The PIO from the previous administration has informed us that they no longer handle the page. Given this, we are left with a few questions: Who is currently managing Sugbo News, and what exactly happened to it? We too are looking for clarity on this matter,” Licera said.

He said there are “absolutely no intentions” to discontinue the platform.

“Under the leadership of People’s Governor Pam Baricuatro, our goal is to continue using this platform in alignment with its original purpose and vision,” he added.

Licera said the Provincial Legal Office is now reviewing the issue to ensure the proper use of public funds and full accountability.

As of 11:33 a.m. Thursday, July 3, Licera also posted a public appeal asking for help in contacting a representative from Meta Philippines to resolve the issue. / CDF
