ON FRIDAY, May 23, 2025, the streets of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Talisay came alive for Gabii sa Kabilin, the annual “Night of Heritage.” From 6 p.m. to midnight, tourists, students and eager learners wandered through 22 museums, heritage sites and ancient churches.
They experienced Cebu’s rich history through artifacts, performances and cultural presentations. Initiated in 2007 by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., the event was created to promote and preserve the region’s heritage.
Participants embarked on a night-long walk, visiting various cultural landmarks until midnight.
As lights illuminated cobbled streets, they took part in traditional dances, watched reenactments of historical events and listened to local music that echoed through ancestral halls.
Each stop told a story, each structure stood as a testament to time. More than just a cultural event, Gabii sa Kabilin 2025 became a journey through Cebuano identity, honoring the past, celebrating the present and inspiring pride in the generations to come.
