The “Hubo,” a solemn ritual involving the undressing of the Holy Child’s vestments and regalia, signifies humility and marks the preparation of the revered image for its return to the house altar, where it will stay until the next Fiesta Señor.

Rev. Fr. Andres Rivera Jr., OSA, Rector of the Basilica, presided over the Hubo Mass and delivered a homily emphasizing that the end of the festivities does not signify the end of the spiritual journey for the devotees.

“The Fiesta, with the theme ‘Sto. Niño: Hope in the Journey,’ has ended and passed. This does not mean that we stop our journey as a Church. We must continue walking and moving forward every day until we reach what we long and hope for — the glorious return of our Lord Jesus,” he added.

He also reminded devotees of the importance of staying spiritually guided.

As the Holy Child’s image was carefully undressed and prepared for repose, devotees were reminded of their ongoing journey in faith — a journey of hope, unity and trust in divine guidance.
