

THE SunStar Cebu Disruptors split their first two outings in the 2025 Press Freedom Cebu Media basketball tournament at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym.
The Distruptors dominated Brigada FM, 60-28, on opening day last Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, with big man Rodilo Lim canning in 15 markers.
SunStar, however, fell short in its late surge against MyTV Cebu/People’s Television Network (PTV), losing 46-51, on Sunday, Aug. 17. IT staffer Karl Adriane Donal exploded for 28 points to lead MyTV/PTV.
Robert Aniñon poured in 11 markers for SunStar, while Richiel Chavez and John Osmil chipped in 10 points apiece.
In other games on Sunday, Tri-Media selection beat Brigada 43-33, XFM trashed CCTN 71-49, and dyHP outlasted Bombo Radyo 49-44.
The sporting event, sponsored by Aboitiz and CEC management, also features a volleyball competition.
SunStar’s volleyball team opened its bid in dominating fashion, walking away with a straight sets victory versus Brigada FM, 25-20, 25-18, on Saturday.
The winning squad was bannered by Kenneth Torres, Jean Mondoñedo, Robert Aniñon, Jade Laranjo, Pauline Gillera, Hannah Ballestin, Gerramae Villarin, Kerstel Medalle, Denise Codis, Tony Onrejas and Joshua Solano. / RSC
