FRUSTRATED murder charges have been filed against those responsible for the shooting of a woman who was merely playing "Scatter" along the roadside of P. Gullas Street, Tabu sa Banay, Barangay Santo Niño in Cebu City around 3:10 a.m. of June 18, 2025.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, deputy city director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said that after the Waterfront Police Station arrested one of the female spotters on June 20, 2025, they were able to identify the riding-in-tandem suspects who shot Chrishia, 32, a resident of Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.
At the time of the incident, she was staying at an inn in the area.
The suspect arrested by the police was identified by the alias "Jane," 41, from Barangay Kamputhaw, who was pinpointed as the spotter for the suspects.
During the investigation, she allegedly revealed who committed the crime.
Illegal drugs were said to be one of the reasons why the victim, alias Chrishia, was shot. Reports say she failed to remit proceeds from drug sales, which angered the suspects.
The spotter initially arrested was also allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade with the victim, selling shabu in the area.
Based on the statement of the witness, alias Jane, she guided the gunman, alias “Tata Tirador,” to where the victim was sitting, after which the gunman shot her twice.
“Base sa iyang revelation, as well as sa statements pud sa nakaila sa victim, ang involvement gyud sa illegal nga druga, tungod kay kini kuno nga biktima naay mga un-remitted amount sa sales sa illegal drugs,” said Macatangay.
(Based on her revelation, as well as statements from those who knew the victim, she was indeed involved in illegal drugs. The motive was said to be unremitted drug sales.)
Chrishia is now in stable condition despite sustaining a gunshot wound to her left cheek and a graze to her head.
Macatangay did not disclose the names of those charged by the CCPO in court, but once the arrest warrant is issued, the police will begin tracking them down for arrest. (AYB)
