MIGUEL Tabuena emerged as the best Filipino performer at the close of the Smart Infinity Philippine Open at the Manila Southwoods’ Masters course in Carmona, Cavite on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025.

Tabuena, the country’s second-ranked player behind PGA Tour mainstay Rico Hoey, finished with back-to-back birdies to cap a four-under-par 66 and a 7-under total, good for a share of fifth place.

His only bogey came on the 10th hole.

Julien Sale clinched the crown with a closing 65 for an 11-under total.

Aidric Chan also fired a 66 behind six birdies against two bogeys to wind up in joint eighth on 6-under.

Justin Quiban ended up in a share of 16th on 4-under following a roller-coaster 70. He had five birdies against three bogeys and a double bogey.

Sean Ramos had an impressive Asian Tour debut, closing with a 69 for a 3-under total and got a share of the 23rd spot.

Japan Tour regular Justin delos Santos rallied with a 67 to climb to joint 43rd on 1-over. Lloyd Jefferson Go of Cebu and Rupert Zaragosa each carded a 70 to join a big group on joint 47th, while Enrico Gallardo settled for tied 59th on 4-over after a 72.

Amateur Shinichi Suzuki finished on 6-over following a 72, while Carl Jano Corpus carded a 77 for 9-over. / Golf Pinoy Dotcom
