Talisay City opens new track oval, soccer field
Talisay City unveiled its new track oval and soccer field on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Talisay City Central School to promote local sports and fitness.
The track oval opened to the public on Friday, March 28, operating from 4 to 8 a.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. on weekdays. On weekends and holidays, it will remain accessible from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas said entrance will be free during the soft opening phase as minor finishing touches are completed.
“More than that, it provides a safe and accessible space for our beloved Talisaynons to jog, exercise and stay active — no longer having to risk their safety on the roadside,” Gullas said.
He said the new facility will encourage a more active lifestyle among the community while fostering athletic development.
“We pray that this facility becomes a place where discipline, sportsmanship and camaraderie thrive,” he added.
Gullas added that future sports infrastructure projects, including a basketball court and a swimming pool, will be inaugurated in December at the same venue.
“This is more than just a track oval or a soccer field. It is a symbol of progress, unity and our commitment to a healthier and more active Talisay City,” he said.
Aside from the inauguration, Gullas distributed financial incentives to Talisaynon student-athletes who represented the city during the recent Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. / EHP
