A TAXI driver was injured after he was robbed and stabbed by two passengers in Sitio Laguna 2, Barangay Bulacao Pardo, Cebu City, at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
The victim, Glicerio Mier, 53, of Sitio Tagaytay, Barangay Vito, Minglanilla, Cebu Province, was driving a CTC taxi with plate number VR7523. He sustained stab wounds to his back and armpit, inflicted by the suspects.
In an interview with dyHP, Mier recounted that two men boarded his taxi along Pelaez Street and requested to be taken to Sitio Laguna in Barangay Bulacao Pardo.
Upon reaching a dimly lit area, the men suddenly attacked him with a knife and announced a robbery.
One man, seated behind him, grabbed his neck and attempted to subdue him, while the other repeatedly stabbed him.
Mier resisted, grabbing the hand of the assailant wielding the knife, causing the suspect to drop the weapon.
One of the robbers then seized his bag, which contained P6,000 in earnings from the morning's fares, and his wallet containing his driver's license. The suspects also took the taxi keys before fleeing the scene.
"Ang katong lalaki sa luyo gituok kog maayo, ang usa sigeg lusak nako katong sa atubangan nga naay kutsilyo nya ako man nakuptan ang kamot niya akong gihapak maong nabuhian ang kutsilyo," Mier said.

After reviewing the taxi's dash camera footage, police have identified the suspects as brothers Ronilo and John Lloyd Lantape, both residents of Barangay Bulacao Pardo.
Mier believes the suspects were under the influence of illegal drugs due to their aggressive behavior.
Authorities suspect the same individuals are responsible for the fatal stabbing of a young man in Poblacion Pardo, who was attacked while standing at a waiting shed and using his cellphone.
The Inayawan Police Station has initiated a manhunt for the Lantape brothers, who were not found at their residence during a search. (AYB)
