NEWLY elected officials under the Team Mandaue slate pledged to set aside political divisions and work in unity with the incoming administration.

The elected officials made this vow during their oathtaking ceremony at Mandaue City Session Hall on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

Vice Mayor-elect Glenn Bercede, who led the group, said he is willing to move past political bickering for the benefit of Mandauehanons.

“Wagtangon na ang political bickerings diha; niaging piniliay ato nang kalimtan. We work together as one,” Bercede said.

(Let’s put an end to the political bickerings there; let’s forget the past election. We work together as one.)

He said he is ready to support the initiatives of the new administration for the city’s development.

Bercede also confirmed that the transition of office is proceeding smoothly.

Until the official start of the new term on July 1, Bercede will continue to function as mayor and ensure ongoing city operations.

Provincial Board Member-elect Malcolm Sanchez also expressed willingness to work with fellow Board Member-elect Olin Seno.

He said the election is over, and political differences should no longer hinder progress.

“Whatever benefits the province can offer to Mandaue, regardless of political parties, we have to work together for the good of the city,” Sanchez said.

He added that his legislative priorities will focus on strengthening social services and education in Mandaue.

PB member

For the first time, Mandaue residents will have their own representatives in the Cebu Provincial Board (PB) following a related Supreme Court ruling allowing Mandaue, as a legislative district, representation in the PB.

Officials who took their oath include re-elected councilors Jen Delmar, Maline Cortes-Zafra, Jimmy Lumapas, and Jun Arcilla.

The oath of office was administered by Court of Appeals Justice Marilyn Lagura-Yap.

Also sworn in were councilor-elects Carlo Fortuna and Kevin Cabahug, who ran in place of his late mother, former Councilor Editha Cabahug. / CAV
