THE Realtors squad dominated the recently concluded 2025 Sugbo D-League 15-Under basketball tournament at Crown Hoops on Gabuya St., Pardo, Cebu City.
Under the mentorship of Donald Lim, the Realtors were unbeaten throughout the tournament.
In the championship game on May 10, the Realtors, led by Rajnish Butaslac, defeated Batang Carcar, 61-44.
Despite trailing 26-21 at halftime, the Realtors turned the tide in the third quarter with their relentless pressure defense, shifting the game’s momentum in their favor en route to title-clinching win.
Butaslac was named the Most Valuable Player of the competition.
“In the third quarter, we tightened our pressure defense and took advantage of our transition offense,” said coach Lim, who is also the owner of the newly-formed squad.
“We didn’t expect to win the championship. My focus is on the development of the players, helping them out, not just my 12-year-old son who’s currently in Ateneo. I’m just applying what I learned as a player before,” added Lim, a former player for Adamson University and San Sebastian under coach Egay Macaraya in Manila.
Aside from Butaslac, the Realtors’ roster includes Raffy Pasaje, Ahkie Enriquez, Liam Lim, Rio Badrian, Zyke Villanueva, Richard Abrigo, Franzly Dalumpines, Javen Ruiz, Ivan Sabando, Vinz Fuentes, Rick Armacin, Maglasang, Kenneth Marikit, and Chaz dela Pena.
“Our goal is more exposure, tune-up games against schools, maybe out-of-town games if there’s a chance. Anything that can help develop our players,” Lim stated.
Looking ahead, Lim plans to join the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL). / JBM
