FILIPINO boxing fans can now watch world-class boxing shows live after Top Rank launched its boxing streaming site, Top Rank+.
“I think we’re going to give the fans real value. It’s very hard in this day and age to say go to the television networks in the Philippines and ask them to spend money to do boxing, particularly boxing that may not involve a Filipino,” said Bob Arum in a recent Zoom meeting with Filipino journalists. “So, this gives us the opportunity to put on great boxing and to allow the Filipino population to watch it at home or wherever, and get enthused with boxing once again.
“We tried to keep the price very low. In US dollars, it’s 4.99, which apparently is P279. We’re trying something that’s very new and we hope that it really works. Because if it does, it’s going to really help boxing.”
The site features live events, live weigh-ins and an ever-growing archive of currently over 150 world championship fights.
The archive features the fights of Filipino legends Manny Pacquiao and Nonito Donaire Jr. and all-time greats like Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar Dela Hoya.
“I hope we attract the fans and they’re really into this app. They’ll be communicating with us about other fights that we have promoted that aren’t being currently offered and within minutes or maybe hours we’ll add those fights. Maybe people remember the fights that we had more than I do. But I know there were many fights with Filipinos other than Ancajas, Donaire and Manny,” said Arum.
The site will be streaming live the World Boxing Organization super-featherweight bout between Charly Suarez and Emmanuel Navarrete on Sunday, May 11, 2025, and the world title unification fight between World Boxing Council bantamweight king Junto Nakatani and International Boxing Federation bantamweight titleholder Ryosuke Nishida on June 8. / EKA
