A 36-YEAR-OLD man was declared dead on arrival at the Cebu City Medical Center after he was hit by a speeding motorcycle around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, while crossing V. Rama Avenue in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

The victim was identified as Anthony Etulle Fortes Jr., a traffic enforcer at the Cebu City Transportation Office and a resident of Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

The motorcycle involved was a Yamaha Y2F-R3 driven by Eligius John Tejedor Villasin, 25, of Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City.

Based on the investigation by the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Cebu City Police Office and the statement of the victim’s older brother, Jimmy Fortes -- a former police officer and currently also a traffic enforcer at the Cebu City Transportation Office -- his younger brother was crossing V. Rama Avenue when he was suddenly hit by the speeding motorcycle.

Due to the impact, the victim was thrown off and his head slammed into the pavement, causing serious injuries to his head and body.

He was rushed to the CCMC but was declared dead on arrival due to the severe head trauma.

Villasin is currently in custody of the TEU and is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. He is scheduled to undergo a drug test. (AYB)
