JERALD Into is set to face fellow unbeaten prospect Sanatali Toltayev in the Round of 16 of the Riyadh Season World Boxing Council (WBC) Boxing Grand Prix super-lightweight tournament on June 21, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Into advanced to the next round of the tournament after a one-sided unanimous decision win over previously undefeated American Ahmad Muhammad Jones last April 18, 2025. He won the fight comfortably with scores of 59-55, 58-56, and 58-56 on the judges’ scorecards.
Toltayev booked his ticket to the next round after a sixth-round stoppage of Venezuelan knockout artist German Brochero on the same event. Toltayev dropped Brochero once in the fifth and the other in the sixth round.
The 25-year-old Into turned pro in 2019 and immediately proved that he’s the real deal. In his sixth fight, he totally outclassed gatekeeper Eduardo Mancito by unanimous decision in 2022. He followed it up with two wins against veteran pugs Monico Laurente and Leonardo Doronio.
Into finally won the biggest fight of his budding career last year, after stopping former ALA boy and dangerous journey Marjohn Yap in the eighth round to win the WBC Asian lightweight title. The win earned him a No. 25 spot in the WBC lightweight rankings.
The 25-year-old Toltayev, on the other hand, turned pro last year after a long amateur career.
Toltayev was impressive in his pro debut, demolishing Dimitry Khasiev in the third round in his native Kazakhstan. He followed it with a unanimous decision win over Sardar Atakishiev.
Into is 12-0 with nine knockouts, while Toltayev is 3-0 with two knockouts. / EKA
