Ever tried bilo-bilo, bibingka or biko? What about bite-sized, specially created empanaditas? These and other Cebuano delicacies are among the local fare currently being highlighted at Café Lucita inside Golden Peak Hotel and Suites, located at the corner of Gorordo Ave. and Escario St. in Cebu City.
The centrally located hotel recently introduced a Merienda Cena Buffet, featuring selections designed around Filipino culinary traditions. The spread includes Best of Cebu awardees like empanaditas, along with merienda staples and other familiar fare, presented with the intention of immersing diners in the flavors and textures that make up Pinoy snack culture.
Among the featured offerings are sandwiches with unique flavor profiles, pastries, a street food section showcasing tusok-tusok favorites, and a variety of traditional kakanin. Items like dinuguan with puto, pansit palabok and lumpia are some of the mainstays.
Executive chef Allan Monungolh, assisted by sous chef Alvin Eleccion, curated the selection. The team was present during a recent food-tasting attended by members of the media, including hotel general manager Ritchel Bojos and marketing and communications manager Ian Jonathan Plando.
The menu at Café Lucita is set to rotate daily, allowing different Filipino snack dishes to take the spotlight. Guests are welcome to walk in, though reservations can also be made via mobile or Viber. Golden Peak Hotel and Suites is situated within Cebu’s commercial and financial district. Apart from its food offerings, it is also known for having modern high-ceiling function rooms used for meetings and events.
