

THE University of Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers and University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers notched back-to-back wins in the Emil’s Fresh Chicken Fiesta Cup at the Lipata-Linao Sports Complex in Minglanilla, Cebu, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
UV defeated the University of San Jose-Recoletos Baby Jaguars, 84-64, behind the combined efforts of Rhadz Simon Silawan, Carl Jacob Cortes, Liyco Ventura, and Brent Kenneth Barnaldo.
Silawan finished with 19 points, Cortes added 13, Ventura tallied 11, and Barnaldo contributed 10. Brent Yanong and James Precious Ponce led the Baby Jaguars with 15 and Ponce 11 points, respectively.
Earlier, the Baby Panthers easily defeated the Benedicto College Baby Cheetahs, 75-63.
Luke Dy exploded for 23 points to lead USPF, while Lawrence Selim and Catana added 10 apiece. For the defeated Baby Cheetahs, Kyle Andre Nalisa, John Josef Salvador, and Jake Guancon combined for 40 points.
With the wins, UV and USPF are already assured of semifinal seats in the weeklong competition. / JBM
