VISAYAN Electric, the country’s second-largest electric distribution utility, has announced the appointment of Engr. Mark Anthony Kindica as its new officer-in-charge president and general manager, effective June 1, 2025, as part of its broader push for digital transformation and improved service reliability.
Kindica takes the helm following the retirement of outgoing president and chief operating officer Engr. Raul Lucero, who led the company for the past four years.
A seasoned industry leader, Kindica brings over two decades of experience within Visayan Electric. He previously served as senior assistant vice president for Engineering Operations and assistant vice president (AVP) for Customer Services, where he played a key role in both digital transformation initiatives and operational enhancements.
During his tenure as AVP for Customer Services, Kindica championed the digitalization of service processes, placing a strong emphasis on customer convenience and efficiency. In engineering operations, he was instrumental in upgrading the utility’s system design and reliability, resulting in significant improvements to grid performance.
“It is a great honor to be appointed as the new OIC – president and general manager of Visayan Electric. I have big shoes to fill, as Mr. Lucero brought significant improvements to the company, improvements I intend to maintain and build upon. Our focus will be on further enhancing customer service and system reliability, ensuring that Visayan Electric maintains and further strengthens its standing as a world-class electric utility,” Kindica said.
An Aboitiz scholar and topnotcher in the 2005 Electrical Engineering board exams, Kindica earned his degree summa cum laude from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City. His board score remains one of the highest ever recorded in the exam’s history.
Under Kindica’s leadership, Visayan Electric is expected to accelerate its digital and operational transformation, aligning with AboitizPower’s broader push for innovation, sustainability and customer-centric service across the power sector. (KOC)
