THE Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) reported a 39 percent drop in voyeurism incidents during the first four months of 2025.
In a statement on Tuesday, May 13, acting director ACG Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang said only 86 incidents were logged from Jan. 1 to May 1, compared to 141 in the same period last year.
Yang attributed the decline to the group’s public awareness initiatives, which included dialogues, seminars and informative social media campaigns.
“These efforts have contributed to a decline in cybercrimes, particularly photo and video voyeurism, as more people become aware of the risks associated with sharing explicit content online,” Yang said.
He said the ACG continues to enhance cyber patrolling and digital literacy campaigns in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen the government’s anti-cybercrime efforts.
“The decrease in reported cybercrime cases reflects our collaborative efforts in promoting a safer online environment, especially for the youth, who are among the most vulnerable to crimes like photo and video voyeurism. We assure the public that the ACG remains fully committed to its mandate of eradicating cybercrime,” he said. / PNA
