A KOREAN national, who has a pending case in their country and a deportation order from the Bureau of Immigration (BI), was arrested by the members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cebu City Field Unit, Korean National Police and Naval Forces Central (Navforcen) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023 inside a casino in a hotel in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
The suspect was identified as Choi Sun Hyeok, who temporarily resided in Barangay Upper Casili, Mandaue City.
The CIDG Cebu City Field Unit initiated the “Oplan Pagtugis” manhunt operation,
together with the Investigation Section of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 7, Bureau of Immigration-Fugitive Service Unit and Navforcen that resulted in the arrest of the accused.
Hyeok is set to be turned over to the BOI for deportation to Korea.
On June 29, 2017, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Consul and police attache informed the BI that Hyeok is wanted in their country.
On July 11, 2017, Special Prosecutor Flordeliza Flora from the BI ordered for Hyeok’s arrest for being an undocumented alien.
