Dr. Jose Rizal once said, “Ang mga kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.” In today’s world, many things have changed, especially among the young. Children tend to imitate what they see in their elders, particularly their parents. They may copy their speech, style and even their vices. Children bring joy and strength to their parents, especially after a long day of work. Parents feel rejuvenated and energized when they see their kids achieve academic success or become successful in life.
But based on my observation, many parents are neglecting their children’s well-being. Some parents are even proud when their young children utter bad words or exhibit bad habits like cursing, drinking, smoking, or gambling. They even brag about it to their friends. What’s wrong with these parents? Why are they letting their children follow their bad habits?
Parents should be good role models. Instead of encouraging them to curse or engage in vices, parents should teach them right from wrong. It’s time to break this cycle of bad habits and harmful traditions. We need to show our children a better path and guide them toward a brighter future.
By setting good examples and teaching our kids valuable life lessons, we can help them become better individuals and break free from the cycle of bad habits. It’s never too late to make a change and give our children the future they deserve.
