A WORKER electrocuted at an establishment in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, survived the ordeal but sustained burns to several parts of his body.

According to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office's incident report, the 43-year-old victim was repairing a window at the establishment, located at the corner of MV Patalinghug Street and ML Quezon Highway, when the accident occurred.

While cutting an aluminum tube, the material touched a live wire, causing a spark that resulted in burns to the worker's body at around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday.

The injured man, originally from Mindoro and temporarily staying at the building's bunkhouse, was quickly rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause and circumstances surrounding the accident.

The Mactan Electricity Company Inc. (Meco) previously reported a power outage following the incident, which affected several areas near the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and some industrial zones.

Meco urges the public to notify the utility in advance when working near main power lines to prevent accidents and ensure safety. (DPC)
