The Lunar New Year in 2025 ushers in the Year of the Wood Snake, a time of transformation and adaptability. As we move through this year, it’s a moment to embrace shifting energies that inspire change and growth.

“The Year of the Wood Snake heralds a time of transformation and reformation—powerful aspects that align with the energy of Feng Shui Trend Nine,” wrote Tatler Asia in a 2025 article, with insights from Feng Shui expert Master Joseph Chau.

Just like a snake shedding its skin, Feng Shui Coach Jason Chua shared in a 21-minute YouTube vlog with actress Kim Chiu on Jan. 24 that 2025 is a year of creation and transformation. “New opportunities, new ideas—and in short, there’s a lot of change this year,” said Coach Jason. However, he warned that due to the snake’s volatile and mischievous nature, energy might become insatiable, requiring careful balance.

Curious about lucky colors and lucky signs? Here’s what we picked up from the vlog:

Lucky signs

First is the Year of the Rooster: “Because roosters are friends to snakes (in the Chinese zodiac),” shared Coach Jason, “the Year of the Rooster will be powerful due to their strong network and connections.” With these alliances, Roosters can expect a year full of opportunities. Similarly, those born in the Year of the Monkey, who are also friends with Snakes, will experience the same fortunate chances.

Next, the Year of the Horse: “Last year, I warned they are strong but prone to distraction,” said Coach Jason. “But this year will be promising as you will achieve more targeted goals, like a ‘Manifestation Year.’” The Horse will find clarity and focus in turning their goals into reality.

Top 4 would be the Year of the Rat: Thanks to the influence of two powerful stars—convincing energy and reputation—this will be the year for those born under the Rat to continue using their influence and build their name. It’s a time to leverage their persuasive abilities and become known for their impact.

Lastly, the Year of the Dragon would bring good relationship energy. “Choose wisely,” shared Coach Jason, as those born under the Dragon will find themselves opening many doors of opportunity. However, he warned that while opportunities abound, their health might be compromised if they’re not careful.

Lucky colors

As the Year of the Wood Snake ushers in transformation and adaptability, Coach Jason Chua shared three lucky colors to align with the year’s energies. First, shades of the Metal element—white, gold or silver— symbolize good resources and can attract abundance while strengthening your foundation. Next is blue, representing the Water element, which brings calmness, boosts wisdom and opens the door to exciting opportunities, helping navigate the Snake’s unpredictable nature. Lastly, yellow, tied to the Earth element, embodies peace of mind and stability — qualities essential for managing the restless energy of the year.

Aside from this, the South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong-based news outlet recognized for its comprehensive coverage of global news, culture and lifestyle trends, also shared the lucky colors and predictions for each zodiac sign in 2025.

The Monkey is guided by red, symbolizing energy and passion, but an unlucky star brings conflicts in personal relationships. The Rooster has purple as its lucky color, backed by favorable stars, but health should remain a priority. For the Dog, green inspires renewal, but caution is advised against scams and bad investments. The Pig, with pink as its hue, faces financial challenges and should focus on budgeting wisely.

White is the Rat’s color, and hard work is key to boosting finances, not luck. The Ox, tied to brown, is shadowed by a curse star surrounded by strong female energy. The Tiger, with gold as its lucky shade, will attract benefactors despite being a potential subject of gossip.

The Rabbit has silver as its color but is accident-prone and advised to avoid thrill-seeking activities. The Dragon, tied to yellow, faces one curse star, bringing minor ailments like the flu. For the Snake, blue shines as its lucky color, accompanied by multiple stars that bring career and financial growth.

Grey is the Horse’s hue, but they are cautioned against being distracted by fleeting crushes and chemistry. Finally, the Sheep, with khaki as its lucky color, faces two bad stars that could bring family issues and accidents, SCMP advised by donating blood or visiting the dentist in the sixth or twelfth lunar month.
