SIQUIJOR Governor Jake Villa has confirmed the presence of zoonotic disease cases in the province.

In a Facebook post, Villa urged the public to exercise caution, particularly those who are exposed to goats, carabaos, and other domestic animals.

"Ang probinsya sa Siquijor aduna nay confirmed cases sa sakit nga zoonotic disease nga gikan sa masakiton nga hayop ug posibleng motakod sa tawo," said Villa.

(The province of Siquijor now has confirmed cases of a zoonotic disease, which originates from sick animals and can potentially be transmitted to humans.)

However, Villa did not specify the type of zoonotic disease detected in the province.

He said that while instances of human-to-human transmission are infrequent, the transmission from infected animals to humans occurs more rapidly.

Villa assured the public that the disease is treatable, emphasizing the importance of prevention. (JJL)
